Educational Background & Professional Experience
In 1997, I earned my Master of Social Work Degree from The University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work, Main Campus and completed my undergraduate work at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Business Administration, and Spanish in 1992.
I completed my graduate internship in psychotherapy at The Baylor Psychiatry Clinic and proceeded to work as a Houston psychotherapist at Intracare Psychiatric Hospital where I completed the necessary training and supervision to become licensed as an independent clinician in Texas. I have been an independent practitioner as a Houston psychotherapist since 2000.
I have developed a diverse practice which has included consulting with Family Services of Greater Houston, Houston Independent School District, and the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County. I work with a wide variety of client issues including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and chemical dependency. I apply practical interventions and help clients recognize underlying patterns and issues through a psychodynamic treatment approach combined with supportive, cognitive-behavioral interventions.
I am a network provider on the insurance panel for Blue Cross/Blue Shield & Medicare. Please contact your healthcare company to determine any deductible and co-pay prior to scheduling an appointment with any mental health provider and to determine the cost of out of network services should you choose to see me out of network.
